The Public Relations Student Societies of Valparaiso University and Columbia College Chicago present their regional conference, “CommUNITY” on March 23, featuring Chris Foltz as the keynote speaker. The one-day conference will center around the CommUNITY theme, focusing on the different components of nonprofit public relations. The PRSSA students at Valparaiso University and Columbia College Chicago relate by their shared focus on Chicago’s strong nonprofit presence and their goal to make a difference using public relations. The midwest conference will allow PR students and professionals to come together to share and build upon their nonprofit PR skills.
As keynote speaker Chris will kick off the conference, speaking about creating social impact and using public relations to contribute to the community. Chris and his team at Christopher Foltz Collaborative believe in practices that lend to a global society through give-back business models. The Collaborative team use their communication and PR skills to create social impact initiatives for clients and brands that focus on bettering society as a whole. Chris firmly believes that social impact is the new public relations and, in practicing this belief, aims to change the world one initiative at a time.
In addition to Chris Foltz, the all-day conference will feature speakers who are influential in the public relations community. Speakers include Monika Dixon (Monika Dixon Public Relations), John Moore (Planet Hollywood), Tressa Robbins (BurrellesLuce), Katie Wilkes (American Red Cross), Jenna Benn (Twist Out Cancer), Nicole Sazman (Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago), Thom Clark (Community Media Workshop), Dom Calabrese (Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind), and Julie Somogyi (Girl Scouts).
