Visit to Nicaragua brings hope to local children
Share Your Soles is a nonprofit organization based out of Chicago dedicated to donating shoes to impoverished people throughout the world. Share Your Soles has distributed shoes throughout Central America, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, Appalachia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and many more. This weekend, Mona Purdy, Share Your Soles founder, will be traveling to Nicaragua to distribute over 3000 pairs of shoes.
In the coming weeks, a 40-foot container will be dropped at the Share Your Soles loading dock located in Alsip, Illinois. The goal is to fill the crate with shoes, handicapped equipment (walkers, canes, wheelchairs) and bikes donated from workingbikes.org. Once the container is filled, it will be taken to Nigeria, Africa and distributed there amongst the needy.
The Share Your Soles movement continues to grow by the day, but in order to continue the success, Purdy and her team need all the donations they can receive. Since the inception of Share Your Soles in 1999, over 1.5 million shoes have been delivered to the needy across the world. Share Your Soles has touched the hearts of hundreds of thousands because of their dedicated supporters. Lets continue touching the hearts of needy individuals all over the world by spreading the word about Share Your Soles.
